Pretty Citrus Slice Ornaments
We admit it: there is something you can’t do with cold-pressed and crystallized True Citrus. You need whole oranges (and try lemons too!) to make these pretty, light catching decorations for your tree or for garlands.
For this project, the most inexpensive oranges will do.
Cut the oranges into slices about three-quarters of an inch thick.
Blot slices with paper towel and lay on a cookie sheet (or foil).
Heat the oven to the lowest possible temperature (about 150 degrees), and bake for about four hours, turning every hour or so, especially if any slices begin to curl. Slices are done when their moisture is gone but they are not browned.
To hang, use a knife to cut a small hole in the top of each slice (below the rind) and string on twine or ribbon. Or fill a bowl with slices and small pinecones to make a pretty centerpiece for your table.
At True Citrus, we’re all about the feel-good power of 100% natural citrus for the holidays, in your drinks and foods and even on your table and tree!
