Corn Syrup or Corn Sugar – Either Way It’s Corny to us!

High Fructose Corn Syrup Seeks a New NameWe've been reading that makers of high-fructose corn syrup are lobbying to switch the name to "corn sugar" since their product sales have been affected by people not wanting lots of empty calories in their foods and drinks.

Change the name? Do these companies really think consumers are that easy to fool?

We believe people object to corn syrup because it adds calories without nutritional value and can promote obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and other unhealthy conditions. Not because it's called "syrup" instead of "sugar". Let’s get real!

And besides the health issues, did you know that corn syrup is an engineered product, created as a cheaper alternative to sugar and to make processed foods last longer?

We think this name switch attempt goes to show how important it is to be aware of what's in the foods that you’re eating and drinking. We're proud that True Citrus products are just that: true! All-natural crystallized citrus, with zero calories or carbs, just great taste for your water, teas and recipes. That's keeping it real - no fooling!
