Countdown to February 6th, Superbowl Sunday!
Even if you aren’t into football, you might be called on as a first-string snack provider. We’ve put together a quick list of some fabulous True Citrus favorites that are tasty alternatives to high-sodium pizza and potato chips. Or check our recipe snack section for even more ideas.
Let the game begin!
We found this photo of 83-year-old Yoga instructor Bette Calman. Pretty neat! It reminds us that “aging gracefully” can mean being strong, healthy, independent and able to learn new things. Not just “youthful looking”.
“I'm proof that if you keep at it, you'll get there. I can do more now than I could 50 years ago” said the amazing Mrs. Calman, author of three books, including Yoga for Arthritis.
Compare Mrs. Calman’s photo to the one of Kim Cattral, 54, the new spokesperson for Total Effects Anti-Aging Body Wash and Lotion. Is this a realistic image for aging? Sure it is -- if we can count on someone to follow us around with bounce filters and gel lenses, soft-focusing and air-brushing wherever we go! Unfortunately that’s not going to happen.
When one of our fabulous customers wrote to use to tell us that True Lemon keeps her nails looking great, it got us thinking: hmm, what other beauty applications are there for our all-natural, crystallized lemon packets?
Here’s a list, starting with the one that inspired it. So when you’re finished adding True Lemon to your water, you might consider taking it into the bathroom!
Pretty fingernails - "The beauty supply shop that I go to told me that lemon juice will take care of yellow and discolored nails. So when I got home I put one envelope of True Lemon into a small bowl of very warm water. After a few minutes of soaking my fingertips my nails were clean and white!" True Lemon customer Jane G.
Okay, let’s get right to it. The number one reason we need C: unlike nearly every other animal, we humans cannot make this important vitamin in our bodies, so it's important we get enough C in our diets.
Reason #2: Vitamin C helps build healthy bodies! C aids with the absorption of iron from plant-based foods; biosynthesizes collagen (which helps gives us great skin and minimizes wrinkles!), L-carnitine, and certain neurotransmitters; and helps with protein metabolism.
Reason #3: Vitamin C has super-antioxidant powers! C has been shown to regenerate other antioxidants within the body, including vitamin E. And research is examining whether antioxidant vitamin C might help prevent or delay the development of certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, and other diseases.
There’s no doubt that the Vitamin C we get from fruits or from adding True Citrus to our drinks is great for our bodies. But does C help our skin if we rub in on our outsides?
The answer is yes, but only if you are very careful about the kind of C cream you buy.
In many studies, vitamin C applications improved skin appearance over several weeks by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, helping heal wounds and even protecting against or lessening sunburn damage.
Aside from delicious, all-natural taste, we love True Lemon because it gives us a natural skin beautifying treatment in the form of Vitamin C!
Vitamin C Shown to Give Younger-Looking Skin
Vitamin C helps builds the collagen that gives plump, tight skin. As reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, higher intakes of Vitamin C are associated with more youthful looking skin. A study, “Dietary nutrient intakes and skin-aging appearance among middle-aged American women” looked at diet and skin in 4,025 women, 40 to 74 years old.
During cold and flu season, what better way to treat your ills and chills then with convenient, all-natural True Lemon?
Did you get the same email we did last year? The one telling us to protect ourselves from H1N1 by cutting onions and putting them around the house, so the onions would absorb the virus?
It doesn’t hurt to try, but there seems to be no proof this folk remedy works. Stories about the power of onions have been around since the 1500s, when they were supposed to ward off the bubonic plague.
What’s another very good reason to eat your fruits and veggies (and add True Citrus to your diet)?
New Tufts University research shows that low levels of Vitamins E and C is linked to metabolic syndrome, a condition that increases the risk of getting cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes.
What do many super-successful actors and models have in common? They rely on the power of lemon to help maintain their money-making faces and bods!
Now magazine reports that Jennifer Aniston begins every morning “with a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice to flush out her body.”
